SCHOOL RULES

 

1

School uniform: Pupils are to wear the prescribed school uniform. Modification to the uniform is not allowed.

Top: Clean School Polo T-shirt is to be tucked in at all times. Name tag must be sewn above the school badge. Girls are not to wear bright-coloured undergarments under their school uniform.

Bottom: Burmudas for boys should be no longer than1-inch above the knees. Girls are to wear skorts no longer than 1-inch above the knees.

Socks: Plain white socks are allowed and they should be worn at least 2 inches above the ankles.

Shoes: Only black canvas/sports shoes are allowed. There should be no fanciful/ reflective/ coloured stripes on any part of the shoes.

PE Attire: Girls and boys can put on their school PE shorts only on days with PE/ PAL lessons.

At other times, pupils are expected to wear their formal school attire (Skorts/ Burmudas). CCA/ PE/ School-approved T-shirts and track shoes are allowed for special programmes/ activities with consent from teachers concerned.

Hair: To be kept simple, neat and of natural colour. Pupils are not allowed to colour, highlight, tint or perm their hair.

Boys must not have hair touching the collar, ears, or eyebrows. Hair at the side and back must be sloped.

Girls with long fringe are to keep them off their faces with blues/ black pins or hair bands. Hair reaching below the collar must be tied up, neatly with plain blue/ black rubber bands or clips.

Moustache/ Beard/ Sideburns: No moustache, beard, or sideburn is allowed.

Fingernails: Nails must be kept short, clean and unvarnished.

Jewellery/ Ornaments: No jewellery/ornament/accessory is to be worn. Girls are allowed to wear one pair of matching plain ear-studs on the ear lobe.

Make up/ Body art: No make-up or body art is allowed

Cardigan or sweater/ sandals worn on prolonged basis must be supported by letters from the doctor.

Possesion of any weapon or weapon-like item that is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others is not allowed in school.

Attendance

1

Absence from school must be supported by a medical certificate or a letter from the parent/guardian and to be given to the Form Teacher when the pupil returns to school.

Any pupil who has to be absent from school owing to some urgent personal matter must produce a letter, duly signed by a parent or guardian, seeking permission from the Principal through his/ her Form Teacher

Absence from examination needs to be supported with a medical certificate before the child is allowed to sit for the make-up examination.

 

Conduct During Flag Raising Ceremony

1

Pupils who are Singaporean citizens must stand at attention and sing the National Anthem. Each pupil will take the Pledge with the right fist placed over the heart. International pupils are to stand attention during the singing of the national anthem and pledge-taking.

Pupils not present with their classes for the flag raising ceremony will be considered late.

3

All pupils are to sing the school song with pride.



Conduct In School Hall / The Cove

1

Pupils are not allowed to use the School Hall / The Cove without teacher supervision.

2

Eating or drinking sweet drinks is not allowed in the School Hall / The Cove.

3

Keep the School Hall / The Cove clean and switch off lights and fans when not in use.



Conduct During School Performances 

1

Be attentive during any performance, talk or presentation.

2

Wait quietly for the programme to start.

3

Do not block the view of those behind you.

4

Applaud at the end of the performance, speech, talk or presentation.



Conduct In Classroom 

1

Pupils are to attend classes regularly and punctually.

2

Pupils are to respect their teachers as well as their peers.

3

Pupils are to be diligent and conscientious and take pride in their work.

4

Assignments are to be completed and submitted on time.

5

Pupils are to keep their classrooms clean and tidy.

6

Pupils are not to remain in class during recess time unless supervised by a teacher.

7

Pupils are to sit quietly/ read a book while waiting for their teachers to arrive.



Conduct In School Canteen 

1

Pupils are to queue up for food and drinks.

2

Food and drinks should be consumed at the canteen area only.

3

Used crockery should be returned to the bins provided.

4

Pupils are to keep the canteen clean and tidy.



Conduct During Curriculum Time

1

Pupils must obtain an exit pass to leave their classrooms.

2

Pupils are not allowed to leave the school premises during school hours.

3

Pupils are to walk up or down on the correct side of the staircase quietly and in an orderly manner.

4

Pupils are to move quietly and in an orderly manner from one classroom to another, especially during curriculum time.



Conduct In Media Resource Library (8.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.)

1

Observe silence in the library and return library books and magazines back to their proper shelves after use.

2

Eating and drinking is not allowed in the library.

3

Handle books and magazines with care.


Conduct In Computer Laboratory

1

Pupils are not allowed to use the computer labs without teacher supervision.

2

Eating or drinking is not allowed in the labs and the labs are to be kept clean at all times.

3

Disconnecting any parts of the computer can only be done with permission from a teacher.

4

Storing or deleting files from the hard disk can only be done with permission from a teacher.

5

Pupils using the labs for the project work need to be supervised by a teacher.



Conduct In School Toilets

1

Pupils need to get an exit pass from the teacher before visiting the toilets.

2

Keep the toilets clean and dry.

3

Flush and wash your hands after using the toilets.

4

Do not waste toilet paper or water.

5

Playing, running, shouting in the toilet is not allowed.

6

Standing on toilet seat is not allowed.



Conduct In School / Public Bus

1

Board the bus in an orderly manner.

2

Greet the bus driver when boarding.

3

Remain seated when the bus is moving.

4

Talk softly and politely and keep the bus clean.

5

Playing, running or eating is not allowed in the bus.laying, running, shouting in the toilet is not allowed.

6

Be courteous, gracious and considerate.



Conduct In Bus-Stop / LRT Platform

1

Stand behind the yellow line at all times.

2

Playing, running or shouting is not allowed at the Bus-Stop/LRT Platform

3

Queue up to board the bus/LRT.

4

Allow younger children or senior citizens to board the bus/LRT first.



Conduct During School Learning Journey

1

Be punctual and properly attired as advised by the teacher-in-charge.

2

Be courteous and gracious throughout the journey.

3

Follow instructions given by the teacher-in-charge.

4

Look out for one another and alert your teacher immediately in the event of any emergency.

5

Be responsible and take care of your belongings.

6

Do not litter or leave the group without permission.



General

1

Use of electronic equipment like ipod/ mobile phone is forbidden within the school premises. If they are seen, heard or used, they will be confiscated and surrendered to HOD CCE and Discipline.

Pupils are not allowed to make purchases from the school canteen, school bookshop or unauthorized outside vendors during lesson time.

3

Pupils are to be responsible for their possessions in school. They should refrain from bringing excessive cash or expensive items. The school shall not be responsible for the loss of any personal possession.

Pupils are not allowed to borrow money from fellow classmates or lend money to fellow classmates.

5

Pupils are not allowed to leave the school premises while waiting for after-school activities to commence.

6

Pupils must obtain permission from the school to post pictures of school activities, staff members and any part of the school building.

7

Pupils must not post defamatory comments or pictures of anyone in the school community.

8

Pupils should behave appropriately at all times in order to upkeep the good name of the school.



Serious offences

The following serious offences will be recorded in the School Offence Module (SOM) when it is committed for the first time and will have a bearing on the conduct grade for that academic year.

Writing Reflection

Restorative approach is of the discipline practices we used in Punggol Cove Primary School. When a child breaks a school rule, he/she is made reflect on:

    • his/her behaviour and better understand himself / herself (Self-Awareness) 

    • its impact on himself / herself and others (Social Awareness) 

    • how to improve his / her behaviour (Responsible Decision-Making) 

    • how to work with family, class teachers and friends (Relationship Management) 

    • how to manage himself / herself in monitoring his own behaviour (Self-Management)

 

1. School Visits

·         To visit the school or meet the school staff, call the General Office to make prior arrangements.

·         For the safety of our pupils, all parents/guardians are requested to report to the General Office to  obtain a visitors’ pass before proceeding to other parts of the school.

·         Use the student handbook to communicate with the teacher of your child.

·         Parents are to wait at the allotted waiting area when fetching their children from school.

 

2. School Carpark

·         Parents/Guardians are kindly requested to drop off their children in the school, along the covered  porch. The speed limit for all vehicles within the school premises is 15km/h.

 

3. School Activities

·         Consent forms are given for ALL school activities.

·         Please ensure that the consent forms are duly signed and returned to teacher concerned.

 

4. Attendance

·         Any pupil who is absent for class or any school activity must produce a medical certificate or an  explanatory letter from his/her guardian.

·         Please inform FORM TEACHER via telephone/email if your child is going to be absent for MORE  than 1 day.

·         If your child has to leave school early, please inform FORM TEACHER and report to General  Office to fetch your child.

 

5. Other Safety Rules

·         Pupils are not to wear expensive jewellery or other valuables to school. They are also NOT to  bring too much money to school.

·         Any form of electronic appliances is not allowed in school. Eg. handphone, electronic games

·         Please ensure that the consent forms are duly signed and returned to teacher concerned.
