SCHOOL RULES


1

School Uniform

  • Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed.
  • Top: Clean School Polo T-shirt is to be tucked in at all times. Name tag must be sewn above the school badge. Girls are not to wear bright-coloured undergarments under their school uniform.
  • Bottom: Burmudas for boys should be no longer than1-inch above the knees. Girls are to wear skorts no longer than 1-inch above the knees.
  • Socks: Plain white socks are allowed and they should be worn at least 2 inches above the ankles.
  • Shoes: Only black canvas/sports shoes are allowed. There should be no fanciful/ reflective/ coloured stripes on any part of the shoes.

PE Attire

  • Students can put on their school PE shorts only on days with PE/PAL lessons. At other times, students are expected to wear their formal school attire (Skorts/Burmudas).
  • CCA/ PE/ School-approved T-shirts and track shoes are allowed for special programmes/ activities with consent from teachers concerned.

Hair 

  • Hair is to be kept simple, neat and of natural colour.
  • Students are not allowed to colour, highlight, tint or perm their hair.
  • Boys must keep their hair short and tidy. They should not have hair touching the collar, ears, or eyebrows. Hair at the side and back must be sloped.
  • Girls with long fringe are to keep them off their faces with blue/black pins or hair bands.
  • Girls with long hair or hair reaching below the collar must be tied up neatly with plain blue/black rubber bands or clip.

Moustache/ Beard/ Sideburns

  • Boys are to be cleaned shaven. No facial hair including moustache, beard or sideburn is allowed.

Fingernails 

  • Nails must be kept short, clean. No varnish or hardener is allowed.

Jewellery/ Ornaments 

  • No jewellery/ornament/accessory is to be worn. 
  • Girls are allowed to wear one pair of matching plain ear-studs on the ear lobe. For safety reason, NO dangling or multiple earrings are allowed.

Make Up/ Body art 

  • No make-up or body art is allowed.

Cardigan/Sweater or Sandals 

  • Cardigan, sweater or sandals worn on a prolonged basis must be supported by letter/s from the doctor.

Attendance and punctuality

1

Absence from school must be supported by a medical certificate or a letter from the parent/guardian and it must be given to the Form Teacher when the student returns to school. The school will accept up to a maximum of five letters per semester from parents/guardians.

Any student who has to be absent from school owing to some urgent personal matter must produce a letter, duly signed by a parent or guardian, seeking permission from the Principal through his/her Form Teacher.

Absence from examination needs to be supported with a medical certificate.

4

All students must assemble for the morning Flag-Raising ceremony at the assembly area by 7.30 a.m. Students not present with their classes for the Flag Raising ceremony will be considered late.

Latecomers are to report to the General Office to obtain a permission slip before joining their classes.


Conduct during flag raising ceremony

1

Students who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the pledge. The student must stand at attention and take the pledge with the right fist placed over the heart. Students who are not Singapore Citizens are to stand at attention.

All students are to sing the school song with pride.


Conduct during curriculum time

1

Students must obtain an exit pass to leave their classrooms.

2

Students are not allowed to leave the school premises during school hours.

3

Students are to walk up or down on the correct side of the staircase quietly and in an orderly manner.

4

Students are to move quietly and in an orderly manner from one classroom to another, especially during curriculum time. 


conduct during performances, presentation and talks

1

Be attentive during any performance, talk or presentation.

2

Wait quietly for the programme to start.

3

Sit down quietly and do not block the view of those behind you. 

4

Applaud at the end of the performance, speech, talk or presentation.


Conduct during school learning journeys

1

Be punctual and properly attired as advised by the teacher-in-charge.

2

Be courteous and gracious throughout the journey.

3

Follow instructions given by the teacher-in-charge.

4

Look out for one another and alert your teacher immediately in the event of any emergency.

5

Be responsible and take care of your belongings.

6

Do not litter or leave the group without permission.


Conduct in school hall / the cove

1

Students are not allowed to use the School Hall / The Cove without teacher supervision.

2

Eating or drinking sweet drinks is not allowed in the School Hall/The Cove.

3

Keep the School Hall/The Cove clean and switch off all lights and fans when not in use.


Conduct in classroom

1

Students are to attend classes regularly and punctually.

2

Students are to respect their teachers as well as their schoolmates.

3

Students are to be diligent and conscientious and take pride in their work.

4

Assignments are to be completed and submitted on time.

5

Students are to keep their classrooms clean and tidy.

6

Students are not to remain in class during recess time unless supervised by a teacher.

7

Students are to sit quietly or read a book while waiting for their teachers to arrive.


conduct in the school canteen

1

Students are to queue up for food and drinks. 

2

Food and drinks should be consumed at the canteen area only.

3

Used crockery should be returned to the bins provided. 

4

Students are to keep the canteen clean and tidy.

5

Students should not run or play in the canteen.

6

For hygiene reasons, all students are encouraged to wash their hands before and after consumption of food; and use cutlery when consuming their food.


Conduct in Media resource library

1

Observe silence in the library.

2

Return library books and magazines back to their proper shelves after use.

3

Eating and drinking is not allowed in the library.

4

Handle books and magazines with care.


Conduct in computer laboratories

1

Students are not allowed to use the computer labs without the teacher supervision. 

2

Eating or drinking is not allowed in the labs. The labs are to be kept clean at all times.

3

Disconnecting any parts of the computer can only be done with the permission of a teacher.

4

Storing or deleting files from the hard disk can only be done with the permission of a teacher.

5

Students using the labs fo project work need to be supervised by the teacher. 


cONDUCT IN THE SCHOOL TOILETS

1

Students need to get an exit pass from the teacher before visiting the toilets. 

2

Keep the toilets clean and dry.

3

Flush and wash your hands after using the toilets.

4

Do not waste toilet paper or water.

5

Playing, running, shouting in the toilet is not allowed.

6

Standing on the toilet seat is not allowed.


conduct in school/public bus

1

Board the bus in an orderly manner.

2

Greet the bus driver when boarding and thank him/her when alighting.

3

Remain seated when the bus is moving.

4

Talk softly and politely and keep the bus clean.

5

Playing, running or eating is not allowed on the bus.

6

Be courteous, gracious and considerate.


general

1

All students are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item, which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.

Use of mobile devices1 is prohibited within the school premises. Students are advised not to bring them to school. This is to ensure students are focused during lesson time and out distracted during their learning.

a)     If they are seen, heard or used, they will be confiscated and handed over to the HOD Discipline for safekeeping until a parent/guardian comes to school to retrieve it.

b)     For student offences involving the use of mobile devices, when the school has reason to believe that laws have been violated, but the student and/or parents refuse to cooperate with the school in its investigation, the school may report to the police for assistance. Notwithstanding the school’s decision, the victims concerned (including students and teachers) may still choose to make a police report.

c)     For inappropriate content posted online that involves a school, students or staff of the school, such as derogatory or hurtful remarks, the school may contact the author of the content or the host of the website to request for the contents to be removed.

Students are to be responsible for their possessions in school. They should refrain from bringing excessive cash or expensive items to school. The school shall not be responsibl for the loss of any personal possession.

Students are not allowed to borrow money from fellow classmates or lend money to fellow classmates.

Students are not allowed to make purchases from the school canteen, school bookshop or unauthorized outside vendors during lesson time.

Students are not allowed to leave the school premises while waiting for after-school activities to commence.

Student must obtain permission from the school to post pictures of school activities, staff members and any part of the school building.

8

Students must not post defamatory comments or pictures of anyone in the school community.

9

Students should behave appropriately at all times in order to upkeep the good name of the school.

10

Students should regard the school as their second home and treat the school property with care in order to maintain the school premises in good condition. Vandalism is a serious offences.

11

Student should report any accidental damage to any school immediately to the teacher-in-charge or to the General Office.
